The St. Francis JV Boys basketball team finished the Watsonville Tournament in 2nd place with a pair of freshmen Dominic Figueroa and Ruben Ibarra making the All Tournament team.
In round one St. Francis beat Monte Vista Christian of Watsonville 66-43. Pete Elizalde led the team in scoring with 17 points, Chase Vargas poured in 16 points and Ibarra had 15 points.
Round two saw a close game as the Sharks beat Watsonville 51-47 to advance to the title round. In the game Figueroa led the team in scoring with 12 points, Vargas had 9 and Braxton Peterson contributed with 8 points.
In the championship game the Sharks lost in double overtime to Santa Cruz 73-69. In the game Ibarra led the team with 24 points, Elizalde had 17 and Figueroa with 13 points on the night.
The Sharks varsity and JV team return to the court Monday Night January 6th, 2014 against North Monterey County in the Borina Athletic Center at St. Francis High School. The JV team tips off at 5:30 pm with the varsity scheduled to tip off at 7:00 pm. Come out and cheer on your Sharks.
