Sharks Represented at Team USA Junior National International Bowl

A pair of Sharks were chosen to take part in the 2014 International Bowl series between the USA and Canada. Current 9th Grader Ruben Ibarra was chosen by the USA to take part in the U-16 game, but was unable to play due to a conflict in schedule as basketball season is still ongoing. Ibarra is a member of the Junior Varsity boys team. Sharks Head Football Coach Adam Hazel was able to take part in the event as an assistant coach for the U-17 team.

There were a total of 6 games over the past weekend and 3 were won by the USA and 3 were won by Canada. The teams also got to take part in a jamboree last Wednesday night at AT&T Stadium the home of the Dallas Cowboys. The centerpiece of the weekend was the U-19 game which is recognized as the official Team USA Junior National Team. This coming summer there will be a Junior World Championship of Football in which, the USA U-19 team will compete. USA beat Canada 43-7 in the U-19 game. The USA team had current high school seniors that are committed to schools such as Notre Dame, Oregon, Kansas State, LSU, Alabama, Auburn and many other top tier Division 1 Programs. Notable alumni of Team USA Football include Stanford QB Kevin Hogan and the most recent Heisman Trophy Winning Quarterback Jameis Winston of Florida State.
