The St. Francis Sharks Varsity Track & Field Team went up against the Aptos Mariners
Sophomore, Tori Yamaoka posted excellent marks for her first week out after a successful basketball season. She placed 2nd in the Discus with a season best of 63'4", Perla Ornelas-Perez placed 3rd with a lifetime best of 62' which puts her 4th on SF's All-Time List.
Ornelas-Perez threw the Shot Put for a lifetime best of 26'8" for a silver in the meet. This mark places her 4th on the Sharks All-Times List. Yamakoa earned a bronze in the Shot Put with a 24' 1.5" Second year, Cati Bianchi improved 6 seconds in her 800m race. She clocked a 2:41 for 4th place, Bianchi was the lead off leg for the 4x100m Relay which consisted of Yamaoka, Ornelas-Perez & Francis Camuso for a season best.
Rookie, Braxton Rico put the Sharks first points on the scoreboard with a 2nd in the 1600m.
Rico's time of 4:51 is the fastest freshmen 1600im in the SCCAL. Veteran, Jose Garcia clocked a 12.8 in the 100m for 2nd place while Taylor Gregg clocked a 13.0 for 3rd. Angel Madriz-Rico improved 5' in the Discus event & Nathaniel Ramos dropped his 800m time by 3 seconds. Rico, Gregg, Ramos & Michael Sanchez teamed up for another season best in the 4x400m relay.
The Tracksters will be back on the Track Saturday, March 22 for the Christopher Garlic Invitational @ Soquel High School, 9am.
