In a game that stressed the scoreboard circuits at Strawberry Stadium the Sharks football team won 51-41 over Livermore Valley Prep. The scoring came early and often as the Sharks took the first drive of the game down the field that was capped off by a 9 yard Andrew Ciandro touchdown run. The Sharks then executed an onside kick to get the ball and then went down and scored on a Richie Martinez III run to make the score 14-0. Livermore Valley Prep answered back to tie the game at 14 to end the first quarter and then take a lead in the 2nd quarter before an Ivo Lasich 54 yard touchdown run evened the score. Livermore Valley Prep then ran the ensuing kickoff back and the Sharks right before halftime answered with a Tommy Carroll touchdown run to take a 28-27 lead into halftime.
To start the 2nd half Brandon Moakler of the Sharks recovered another onside kick to give the Sharks the ball that resulted in a Ciandro 1 yard TD run. Livermore equalled the score and the next drive senior kicker Jose Suarez made a 30 yard field goal to give the Sharks a 37-34 lead going into the 4th quarter. Early in the 4th quarter Lasich broke another big TD run for 52 yards. Livermore answered that with a 64 yard TD pass. With 3:29 left in the game the Sharks scored their final touchdown on a Tommy Carroll run then hammered the win home with interceptions by Joseph Kovacs and Carson Cuzick. Another key turnover came on a Ruben Ibarra caused fumble to give the Sharks the ball.
Junior Ivo Lasich had a great day as he now ranks #2 on the all time single game rushing list with his 229 yards on only 7 carries. Tommy Carroll ended up with 99 yards rushing and Richie Martinez III ran for 120 yards.
The frosh/soph team beat North Monterey County 41-0 to improve their record to 6-0. The varsity team takes on Vacaville Christian next Friday night October 16th and the frosh/soph team travels to take on St. Vincent de Paul in Petaluma on Saturday October 17th. Come out and support your Sharks!
