Winter sports have wrapped up and spring sports are in full swing. Congratulations to our men’s and women’s basketball teams on making it to the semi-finals of the CCS Division V Tournament. The seasons for both squads are now over. The boys finished with an overall record of 20-7 and had a heartbreaker in the SCCAL Tournament Final to Santa Cruz. Sandor Rene Rodriguez earned 1st team all SCCAL, Chase Watkins and Jason Gallo each earned 2nd team and Dominic Figueroa earned honorable mention.
The players were not the only ones who received honors, Coach Ed Kelly will be given the CCS Honor Coach for Boys Basketball. The award will be presented before the CCS Championship Game Saturday March 5th at Kaiser Arena in Santa Cruz at 7:30 pm.
The girls all SCCAL team is yet to be announced. The girls finished with an overall record of 18-9. The girls won their quarterfinal CCS game vs Notre Dame-Salinas in overtime a rematch of the 2015 CCS Championship game. We are so proud of how both teams competed this winter and look forward to a great season next year.
Boys and girls soccer wrapped up in February. The boys team had a great year and almost qualified for the CCS playoffs. The team had big wins over powerhouse programs such as Palma, Monte Vista Christian and Santa Cruz. The girls team progressed well and got a great win over San Lorenzo Valley. Congratulations boys and girls soccer.
Spring sports are now upon us. Non league competition is under way and league for swimming. The girls swim team won their first ever dual meet vs Harbor last Friday! The boys also won the dual meet over Harbor.
The baseball team opens league play vs Soquel on March 15th at 3:30 pm at St. Francis. The softball team begins league play also at home vs Soquel on March 15th at 3:30 pm.
The Track & Field team has their first league meet on March 10th at SLV at 4 pm.
Also Golf has a match March 3rd at Santa Cruz at DeLaveaga Golf Course.
