Your St. Francis Sharks began their football season this week with the varsity team competing in the SCCAL Jamboree Friday night at Cabrillo College and the JV competing Saturday at Soquel High School. The varsity team had a great showing as Carson Cuzick scored two touchdowns in the first scrimmage vs. Harbor. In the second scrimmage vs. Parajo Valley James Young was the Shark who shined bright as he multiple long runs. Defensively the Sharks held Harbor out of the end zone in the first scrimmage as the D line won the line of scrimmage led by Zach Estrada and Jerome Lumicao.
The JV team won their jamboree played at Soquel High School. Teams were awarded points for first downs and touchdowns on offense and stops and turnovers on defense. The Sharks scored 44 points on the night led by the offensive fireworks of Andrew Seymour and Devin McLeod. Quarterback Joseph Ramirez threw two touchdowns, one to Seymour and one to Andy O'Rourke. Defensively for the Sharks Isaac Davila, Sergio Cervantes, Abel Martinez and Eric Maldanado led the way as the Sharks on gave up one touchdown vs Scotts Valley and no touchdowns vs Soquel.
The Sharks face Pajaro Valley in their first game. The JV game with be Thursday at St. Francis at 4:30 pm. The varsity will play Friday night at Cabrillo at 7 pm. Go Sharks!
