Congratulations to our fall sports for a great season. All four of our current competition sports are either in playoffs or in the playoff hunt. Cross Country just had their senior day on October 26th. The team will move on to the SCCAL Meet and we have a few Sharks looking to move on to the CCS Meet. In the last race, St. Francis beat Mt. Madonna and Santa Cruz for the boys. EJ Kelly won the race with a time of 15:54; Braxton Rico came in 2nd with a time of 16:27; and Paul Kane came in 3rd with a time of 17:36. For the girls, Olivia Burke and Riley Croghan have been running great and look to make a splash in the upcoming SCCAL Meet. The boys and girls SCCAL Meet will be on November 3rd.
Our volleyball team had four girls earn spots on the All SCCAL Team. Audrey Ryan and Emma Ryan earned spots on the 2nd Team ALL SCCAL, and Laura Martinelli and Samantha Bellucci earned honorable mention All SCCAL. The girls’ volleyball team enjoyed a great season and finished overall 13-14. The Sharks had some big wins over great volleyball programs, such as Harbor, Mt. Madonna, and Woodside Priory during the season and now await the announcement of the CCS playoffs brackets.
Girls Tennis has enjoyed quite a season as they finished 3rd place in the SCCAL. Individually, the girls had great seasons, as well. Katherine Casper will move on to the SCCAL tournament in the singles bracket and Gabi Gutierrez will team up with Maya Talavera for a doubles team in the SCCAL tournament. The girls look to have a great tournament and will then move on to the CCS tournament.
Football has enjoyed a nice season. The varsity currently sits at 6-3 on the season and the JV team is 7-0. The varsity team played the homecoming game against Stellar Prep and have an upcoming game against California School of the Deaf; both of these teams are competing with the Sharks for sports in the Division V North Coast Section Playoffs.
Cheerleading for the Sharks is off to a great start with a successful fall season. The cheer squad will continue into the winter as they cheer for varsity boys and girls basketball. Go Sharks!
