4 Sharks Football Players Earn Spots on All Area Teams

Congratulations to Senior Richie Martinez who earned a spot on the Santa Cruz Sentinel 2016 All County Team. Senior Andrew Ciandro, Senior Chris Copriviza and Junior Josh Kovacs earned spots on the 2016 All Register-Pajaronian Team. 
 
Martinez finished the year with 1,043 yards rushing and 8 touchdowns. Martinez was a both ways three year starter for the Sharks and was a four year letterman. Ciandro and Kovacs were the leaders of the Sharks defense this past season. Ciandro also had 355 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns on the year. Kovacs was a starting guard as well for an offense that averaged 6.3 yards per carry and 24.8 points per game. Ciandro was a three year both ways starter and three year letterman. Kovacs has been a two year both ways starter and three year letterman. Copriviza earned his spot on the team as a punter. He also started for the Sharks defense at Cornerback in his first year with the program.
 
The Sharks finished the season 6-6, making the playoffs for the first time since 2010. The Sharks lost in the playoffs to St. Patrick St. Vincent of Vallejo who went onto win the State Championship in the small school division. Kovacs will lead the returners as they look to have a great 2017 season that opens up August 25th vs Pajaro Valley and a September 8th trip to Oregon to take on La Salle.
