Dear St. Francis Families,
Book Drive
Thank you Sharks for your support in the book drive. With Emily Garcia’s (Class of 2019) great leadership and all our support, we collected 900 books for the students at Ann Soldo Elementary School. These books will be used to build the school’s library and allow some students to make home libraries. Thanks for supporting our Watsonville Family.
Teddy Bear Drive
We are participating in our third annual Teddy Bear Drive for Get on The Bus. GOTB provides opportunities for children to visit their incarcerated parents on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. It has been proven the children are more successful if they can maintain a relationship with their parents. This is a great way for us to help keep families connected. We are collecting 6” brown, tan, or black stuffed bears. We are also collecting Subway gift cards that the children can use for lunch on the day they travel. We will collect items during the month of February. All items can be dropped off in Ms. McLeod’s room.
Family Fun Night
Our annual St. Francis Family Fun Night is coming up on Saturday evening February 11. Family Fun Night means dinner and some chill time with your family and friends -- you get to play board games, SPOONS, charades, and stuff like that. It's kind of like a VITA for everyone. The event is FREE, but your family needs to RSVP so there'll be enough food and games for everyone. Go to the RSVP link on the school website before next Wednesday, February 8th. See you there!
Valentine’s Fundraiser
Animas will be selling a flower stem for $2 and a flower with candy for $3. These items will be delivered to students during class on February 14. If you would like to order an item for your son or daughter, contact Ms. McLeod before February 10 at 3:00 pm.
Masses
We will be celebrating our monthly mass on February 15 in the gym at 7:50 am. Fr. Wayne from St. Joseph’s Parish in Capitola will be our presider.
We will be celebrating Ash Wednesday Mass on March 1 in the gym at 7:50 am. Fr. Purdy will be our presider. All are welcome to join us.
Saint Francis Pro-Life Club attends Walk for LIfe in San Francisco
The Saint Francis Pro-life Club attended the 13th annual Walk for LIfe West Coast in San Francisco on January 21, 2017. The group of 9 students, one alumnus student, and four chaperones started the day by attending Mass at St. Mary's Cathedral followed by the march from the San Francisco Civic Center down Market Street to Justin Herman Plaza. The students join approximately 50,000 people for the Walk for Life West Coast which eventually stretched for almost two miles –from the Civic Center to the bay.
