Dear St. Francis Community,
I would like to thank class officers, students, staff, and parents for working together to make Battle for the Paddle VII an enjoyable, positive, and meaningful learning experience. The larger venue allowed the school to offer additional seating so that more people in our community could enjoy the event. Each class produced great themes, art, dances, and sportsmanship making this Battle for the Paddle one of the most exciting in recent history--and for the first time in school history, a sophomore class hoisted the paddle! Congratulations to the class of 2019!
Student Activities
Here is the complete list of activities for April and May:
April 7: VITA

As Battle for the Paddle continues to grow, it is important to continue to identify ways to improve the event. On April 11, 2017, the newly created Battle for the Paddle Committee will meet to review this year’s event and come up with some ideas for next year. This committee will be meetings two times a year, and is comprised of class officers, student life representatives, moderators, and parents from each class.

Office of Dean
The end of the academic year is near, and this is the time when students are feeling the challenge of adhering to the dress code guidelines of the Student-Family Handbook. I would like to thank all parents and students for continuing to support the school’s policies regarding dress code, and I am optimistic that the positive trend will continue. Let’s continue to support our students as they make their way to the finish line. It is highly recommended that parents and students check the calendar every day to make sure the appropriate uniform is selected for school.
Our staff and faculty are on board with the support of your students in regard to the dress code policies, and with your support, we can make great strides in providing positive, enjoyable, and meaningful school climate for all students.
Campus Health and Safety
As Mr. Lee communicated in his email earlier this year, St. Francis entered into an agreement with Wonder Woofs to provide trained detection canines to conduct safety inspections on campus. These are school safety canines, and they are trained to detect the presence of illicit substances: drugs, alcohol, and gunpowder-based items. The school signed this contract to provide the highest level of safety and prevention for school and school-sponsored events like Kairos, Prom, and VITA. As a reminder, all campus buildings, parking lots, and grounds may be randomly inspected for prohibited items throughout the rest of the year.
On April 25, St. Francis will host a DUI presentation during Assembly and it will be conducted by Real DUI Court. The presentation will include a guest speaker who will share information about DUI, sentencing, and the trial process. The speaker will also share testimonials and will engage students in an interactive discussion and Q&A.
Like I mentioned in my previous newsletter, I am here to serve all St. Francis High School students, faculty, staff, parents, and community members. Together, we can ensure a meaningful learning experience and success in all facets of student life for your student!
Thank you for all your support, and I wish you a purposeful and enjoyable April!
