On May 16th, the Football and Cheer teams will begin their Snap App online donation drive to help raise money for the September 8th trip to Portland, Oregon to take part in Year Two of our series vs. La Salle High School. Please be on the lookout for that as you can help our student/athletes offset their cost for the trip. PARENTS, the football and cheer team were given a letter last week breaking down how the fundraising for the trip is planned. If your child did not bring home that letter, please ask them for it. Any further questions you can contact Athletic Director Adam Hazel, 831-724-5933 x 207 or email at [email protected].

On Thursday May 18th, St. Francis will be hosting Physicals in the Borina Athletic Center. The night is mutually beneficial as the cost per kid is only $25 and proceeds from the event go to raise money for St. Francis Athletic Training. The event is open to the community--it is not just for St. Francis students. Please see the link below to have the Physical Form. The parent section of the form MUST be filled out prior to the student/athlete getting a physical.

Golf
Three of our Sharks golfers-- Jason Kane, Chris Copriviza, and Isabella Mendez-- qualified for the SCCAL Tournament. The team enjoyed a great year and had some great league wins over Soquel and Harbor. David Vasquez, Ivo Lasich, and Jerome Lumicao also played vital roles on our golf team that made our school very proud. Congratulations on a great Golf season, Sharks!

Baseball
Baseball is in the thick of a playoff race to make CCS. The Sharks split games with Soquel last week winning the first 2-0 as Ruben Ibarra pitched 6 ⅔ innings of shutout ball and Joseph Kovacs came in for the save. The next day, the Sharks lost 10-7 to Soquel, but not before Derric Estrada-Haro hit a Grand Slam. The week before, Chase Watkins hit a Grand Slam vs Harbor and didn’t allow a run on the mound. Andrew Ciandro is enjoying a great season on the mound as he currently leads the SCCAL in shutouts. Estrada-Haro is also tied for the league lead in Home Runs. All statistics are according to mbaypreps.com. Also come out and support baseball senior day on May 12th as the Sharks host Scotts Valley at 4 pm.

Softball
The softball team is getting better as the year goes on. The team is fresh off of a 5-4 win over Saratoga, a big win over Harbor, and a heartbreaker 10-9 loss to Soquel. Senior day is coming up on May 9th as the girls host Aptos at 4 pm. Some Sharks are making waves individually as Sophomore Lena Ciandro is leading the SCCAL in hits and Ariana Azavedo is leading the league in triples. On the pitching side, Miranda Janisch is 2nd in the league in innings pitched and leads the league in strikeouts. All statistics are according to mbaypreps.com.
