Happy Summer
Summer is a great time to rest, relax and recharge. In a couple of weeks we will have eleven students who will be attending Salesian Youth Leadership Conference (SYLC) as participants, three students (Megan Kelly ‘16, Sophia Ortega ‘17, and Katie So ‘17) will be attending as peer Spirit Team Leaders and one student (Izzy Shahmirza ’15) will be participating as an adult Leader. SYLC is a week-long leadership conference attended by teens from the five Salesian High Schools and three Salesian parishes in California. This is a great opportunity to be a part of the Salesian family to grow together in leadership and service. We are so proud of all our Sharks Leadership.
Volunteer Opportunity for Parents and Students
We will be hosting a dinner for 120 Salesian SYLC youth participants on the St. Francis Campus on Monday June 19 from 4-8 pm. Please contact Ms. McLeod if you would like to volunteer. We need parents to help serve food and teens to come be hosts and play games with our guests from all of the Salesian works in the state. We could also use donations of drinks, fruit, desserts, chips or salads. You can earn parent service hours for your donations.
Service Hours
Summer is a great time to get caught up on service hours. Students are required to have a total of 80 hours (20 per year) completed one month before their graduation date. Students who are behind in hours can be excluded from social events like dances or VITA. Starting 2017-18 students who are behind can also have their report card held.
You can check students service hours on RenWeb1.
