Fourteen boys and eight girls comprised St Francis cross country runners who toed the line at the Ken Thomas Invitational in Soquel on Saturday morning. Riley Croghan and James T. Young were the Top Sharks in the Girls and Boys Varsity race.
Croghan was first amongst Division 5 competitors and finished in a time of 19:14. Her time was a career best by 35 seconds and ranks her as second best time in SF history over the 2.8 distance. Sophomore, Cami Ryan (19:29) and Sophomore, Angelika Castro (19:40) followed Croghan for the Sharks. For Ryan and Castro, they also ran a third and fourth best on SF All-Time list for 2.8 miles. Senior, Olivia Burke (21:45) and Junior, Natalie Henn (22:23 )also ran career bests. Doreen Chen (22:49) and Bell Zhang (23:20) rounded out the competitors for the Lady Sharks.
The Boys Varsity 2.8 mile run was the last event of the day. Senior, James T. Young finished first for the Sharks with the time of 16:43 which ranks him third in St. Francis history after his brother class of 2010 Michael Young and Adrian Duran class of 2011. Frank Song clocked his season best at 18:42. Senior, Adam Kahn ran a career best in 20:52
Freshmen, Brandon George led the frosh/soph race at the start. His time of 18:16 ranks him #1 freshmen on SF Freshmen All-Time list at the 2.8 mile distance. Freshmen, Aidan Palmquist 19:31 and sophomore Julian Wolfe 19:51, Isaac Hannah 22:18 and Ethan Castro completed our team which placed 5th out of 16 schools.
The Sharks will be traveling north to San Lorenzo Valley High School on Thursday, October 27th at 4pm for their last dual meet before the SCCAL Championships on November 1 at Pinto Lake County Park. Go Sharks!
