Sharks Football Beats Gonzales 40-27

Congratulations to the St. Francis football team on their 40-27 win at Gonzales Friday night. The Sharks opened the scoring early as Andy O' Rourke scored twice in the first quarter on touchdowns runs. An Andrew Seymour interception set up a Devin McLeod touchdown run and Carson Cuzick punched a touchdown in just before halftime giving the Sharks a 28-7 lead at the break. The first Sharks play of the 2nd half saw Mario Velasquez run for a 72 yard touchdown.
 
Gonzales came out in the 3rd and 4th quarter and put points on the board and blocked and returned a Sharks punt for a touchdown. Another Gonzales touchdown pass cut the Sharks lead to 34-27. After that McLeod had another long touchdown run and then Joseph Ramirez had an interception that sealed the 40-27 win.
 
The Sharks are now 7-1 overall with their only loss coming to La Salle of Oregon who just qualified for the OSAA State Playoffs that start next week. The Sharks are now 4-0 in MTAL Coastal Division play and take on Santa Cruz next Friday night at 7:0 pm at Santa Cruz High School. Santa Cruz is 3-1 in MTAL Coastal Division play on the season. Lets get a big crowd of Shark fans to Santa Cruz High School next Friday night to cheer on your Sharks!
