From our Director of Student Life

Dear St. Francis Families,

February is here and I would like to thank all parents for working together with staff and faculty to ensure that we provided an enjoyable, positive, and meaningful learning experience for all of our students. This month will offer many events that will create community among our young people, so please read below for a list of February’s events.

The following are updates for Student Activities and Citizenship:

Student Activities

Saturday, 1/27, was Winter Formal and 195 students filled the Seascape Golf Club for a memorable night! As always, I would like to thank all members of the Dance Committee for all their leadership during the planning of this event, our chaperones for their presence, and all other students who helped make this a successful event. A special thank you goes to Mrs. Mari Torres and Mrs. Teresa Muñoz & company for their beautiful decorations that transformed Seascape Golf Club into a Winter Wonderland!

Here is the list of activities for February/March:
Class Meetings: 2/8, 2/23, 3/1
Battle for the Paddle is next month, and students are starting to practice their dances, visualizing their art, and preparing for the physical demands of the B4P games!

Battle for the Paddle VIII (Update)
Location for Battle for the Paddle VIII (B4P) has changed in order to better serve our community. B4P will now be hosted at the Goicovich Gym at Watsonville High School. The address is 401 Lincoln Street, Watsonville, CA 95020.

Next week I will be emailing pertinent information regarding the B4P which includes pre-event activities, food service, parking plan, parent service hour opportunities, and ticket and t-shirt sale information.

Citizenship

I would like to thank all parents and students for continuing to support the school’s policies regarding dress code. I am optimistic that the positive trend will continue. Let’s continue to support our students to make sure they adhere to the dress code policies the rest of the year.

Dress Code:
While we are noticing adherence with grooming and dress code in certain areas, one area for growth is arriving to school in the correct uniform. A few times this semester, students have arrived to school dressed in the incorrect uniform because they are not reviewing the calendar. It is highly recommended that all students and parents review the calendar daily to make sure the correct uniform is being worn. Our staff and faculty are on board with the support of your students regarding dress code policies, and with your support, we can make great strides in providing positive, enjoyable, and meaningful school climate for all students.

Like I mentioned in previous newsletters, I am here to serve all St. Francis High School students, faculty, staff, parents, and community members. Together, we can ensure a meaningful learning experience and success in all facets of student life for your student!

Thank you for all your support, and I wish you a purposeful and enjoyable February!

Go Sharks,
Mr. Vince D. Monroy
