Our 4th Annual Spring Swing Golf Tournament is coming up on June 1st at Spring Hills Golf Course. We look to have another fun day on the course, we hope you come out and play. If you can’t play, there are still ways to have fun and support the event.You can be a sponsor, join us for dinner, or volunteer the day of at the check in table or at an event hole. On May 17th St. Francis High School will be hosting physicals for $25. This is a bargain price as all St. Francis student/athletes need a yearly physical and incoming freshmen need a physical.These physicals are open to our community for anyone who needs a physical for college, youth sports or any other reason. Congratulations to Chloe Deleissegues on being named the SCCAL & CCS Female Scholar/Athlete of the Year! Chloe is a 4 year member of our basketball team and 4 year member of our Track & Field team who also was a standout student and very involved with community service. Please congratulate Chloe on a great honor.
Softball
Your Sharks softball team just finished 2nd place in a Watsonville HS tournament as they had wins over Marina and Mercy Burlingame before falling to Seaside in the final game. The Sharks are fresh off of a 17-1 win over Harbor. On May 1st the Sharks will be at SLV, May 3rd at home vs. Santa Cruz, May 8th at Aptos and Senior Day on May 10th vs. Harbor. The Sharks are in the mix for a CCS spot as we hope to keep the hot streak going.
Baseball
Your Sharks baseball team currently has a record of 11-4 on the season. The Sharks had an 8 game win streak with wins over traditional power teams including Carmel, Pacific Grove, Carlmont, Alisal, North Salinas and Gilroy in non league games. In league the Sharks are heating up at the right time as CJ Gomez threw a no hitter vs. Harbor and the Sharks bats are coming to life as well. On April 27th the Sharks will be at Soquel, April 30th at North Monterey County, May 4th vs. Scotts Valley, Senior Day on May 8th vs. Harbor and then finishing the regular season on May 10th at Aptos.
Track & Field
Congratulations to the St. Francis High School Track & Field team on their win over Harbor where we honored our seniors. Every single athlete contributed to the overall team score for the St. Francis Track & Field team. The high point scorer was senior Samantha Bellucci who won high jump with a new school record of 4'11" and earned 1st place in the triple jump and 2nd in the long jump for a total of 13 points. Currently, Bellucci leads the SCCAL in the high jump. Chloe Deleissegues raced to a double win in the 400m and 200m for 10 points.
Other 1st place finishes came from Alexia Lauesen in the shot put & discus-10 points. Senior Olivia Burke in the1600m. Natalie Henn in the 3200m. Devlyn Gomez was 2nd in the high jump and triple jump. Reese McLeod was 3rd in the high jump and Angelika Castro was 3rd in the 800m.
The boys track and field team won over the Harbor Pirates. First place finishers came from Miguel Aguilar who won the 3200 meters, 2nd in Discus and teamed up with James Young, Julian Wolfe and Vince Wolfe to win gold in the 4 x 400m relay to secure the win over the Harbor Pirates. James Young also placed first in the 800m. Vince Wolfe won the 110 meter hurdles as well as 300 meter hurdles. Justin Parker won the 200 m with a time of 23.04 seconds and Julian Wolfe placed 2nd in high jump and the 400 meters dash in 60.13 seconds. Joey Garibay won the triple jump, high jump and placed second in the long jump. Zaydian Garcia placed 3rd in the long jump & 200m. Freshmen, Joshua Hernandez, placed third in the 100m.The SCCAL Track & Field Finals are on May 5th at Aptos and the Track & Field CCS Semi Finals are on May 19th.

Swimming
Our swim team just finished up a great meet at Harbor where we honored our seniors Garrett Shropshire, Ethan LoBue, Katie So, Madison Orradre, Maya Talavera, Claire Middleton, Samantha Castro and Lindsay Cagnacci. On April 28th the varsity team will be swimming in the SCCAL Finals at SLV. The CCS Swim Meet is May 11th at the Santa Clara Swim Center.
Golf
Our golf team is competing in the SCCAL, our team just had a close loss to Soquel 278-289. On the day, Izzy Mendez shot a St. Francis best 48, Bill Xiao - 52, Aaron Soto - 62, Joseph Ramirez - 65, Devin McLeod - 62, Dylan Mckenna -65. The SCCAL Finals are on May 1st.
Boys Volleyball
Congratulations to our boys volleyball on their big win over Santa Cruz. The Sharks won the first game 25-16 and the second game 25-23. The Sharks also won a thrilling match vs Aptos 25-22 and 26-24 on Friday April 20th. Remaining games for the Sharks are on Friday April 27th at PCS at the Natural Bridges Gym and their first ever home game in program history on Monday April 30th at 5 pm vs. Mt. Madonna. The program is in its first year and playing a JV schedule. Next spring the team will be a varsity team in the PCAL.
