Sharks Baseball Beats Palma By Mercy Rule 11-1 and Advance to CCS Final

Congratulations to the St. Francis Sharks baseball team on their 11-1 win over Palma that was called after 6 innings due to the mercy rule on Wednesday night at Washington Park in Santa Clara.

The Sharks struck early going up 3-0 in the first inning. That was all the run support pitcher Chase Watkins would need. Watkins struck out 13 batters on the day and only gave up 1 run on 3 hits for the complete game win. The middle of the lineup of Julian Mendoza, Chase Watkins and Derric Estrada-Haro combined to go 8 for 10 at the plate. Felipe Padia-Noriega also had a nice night at the plate as he hit a double to the left field wall and lead off man Josiah Granados-Diaz pitched in with a great night at the plate as well. Josh Kovacs brought in two runs in the first inning, David Talavera played well defensively and helped out at the plate and Brandon Moakler had a key RBI to put the Sharks up 6-1.

The Sharks will play Saturday vs. The Kings Academy at 4 pm at Municipal Stadium in San Jose, the home of the San Jose Giants and San Jose State Spartans. CCS will charge admission and there will be a parking fee in the stadium parking lot. Thank you to all the fans who came up to Washington Park and we hope to see more on Saturday! Go Sharks!
