From the Athletics Director

Dear St. Francis Families,

Thank you to those who supported our Luau that was held on August 18th. You all helped raise just over $4,000 for St. Francis athletics and it was a great way to kickoff the year. Thank you to those who supported our Luau that was held on August 18th. Your Shark athletic season began as our volleyball team played in a Sportsmanship game at Harbor on August 20th. The Sharks fell to the Pirates, but did raise money for the CCS Scholar/Athlete program. The Sharks had a tough 5 set match vs Anzar and opened the season at home vs Trinity Christian. The next Sharks home game will be Wednesday Sept 5th vs Watsonville. Come out and support your Sharks.

Your Sharks football and cheer team competed in the first ever Apple City Jamboree on August 17th with all 4 Watsonville schools and then beat Sobrato 51-16 in their first game of the year on August 24th. The Sharks scored early and often behind the offensive line of Lawson Orradre, Hunter Blinkenberg, Johnny Ceballos, Logan Manson and Diego Ramirez. Your Sharks play at Watsonville on September 7th and then a home game vs Harker on September 14th at Watsonville HS. The first PCAL game will be September 28th at King City.

Your Sharks tennis team opened the season vs Aptos on August 23rd. Anna (Gabi) Gutierrez won the #1 singles match. Doubles team Santana Rigor and Marisa Vasquez took the match to the end, but fell in the final tie breaker. The Sharks have their first PCAL match at Alisal on September 11th followed by the first ever home match at Pajaro Dunes on September 13th vs Alvarez. Gutierrez is also a finalist for the Triple Impact Competitor Scholarship by the Positive Coaching Alliance. Over 3,500 students applied and she is in the final 1% for the award.

Your Sharks Cross Country team looks forward to the September 5th Watermelon Run at Pinto Lake. The Sharks first PCAL meet will be on September 20th at Natividad Creek Park. The Sharks look to have another successful season after both the boys and the girls teams made it to CCS last fall. Come out and support your Sharks!

Go Sharks,
