Dear St. Francis Families,
Thank you all for supporting Shark athletics. Fall sports have been doing well as our student athletes are competing on the field/court and cross country track and representing our school in a way that would make St. John Bosco proud.
Volleyball
Congratulations to your St. Francis volleyball team for their win over SLV. The set scores were 25-19, 25-21 and 25-21 for the sweep. Your Sharks are now 5-10 overall in the season and are 4-2 in the last six matches.
The Sharks hosted our St. John Bosco Tournament on September 15th and placed 2nd to Sobrato. That day the Sharks beat Stevenson, North Monterey County and Trinity Christian.
Football/Cheer
Our football team is on a roll with a 3-1 record and fresh off of a 28-10 win over Harker. The Sharks begin PCAL play Friday night at King City. In other non league contests the Sharks beat Sobrato 51-16, beat Pajaro Valley 41-0 and lost a heartbreaker to Watsonville 16-14. Thank you to the Cheer team for your great support. This year the cheer team is a competitive team and will be taking part in competitions. Good luck to our Cheer team as they begin competitions.

Our tennis team is playing very well in PCAL play as Gabi Gutierrez is undefeated in league matches. Our tennis team beat Notre-Dame Salinas in our first ever PCAL match and our next match is Thursday September 27th at North Salinas.

Cross Country
Congratulations to the St. Francis women's cross country team on their win to open the PCAL season. The race was held at Natividad Park in Salinas. The Sharks had 4 of the top 6 finishers in the race. Leading the way was freshmen Lizzie Randolph with a 2nd place finish, Camryn Ryan in 3rd place, Riley Croghan in 5th and Angelika Castro in 6th. Natalie Henn also finished in the top 10 at spot #9, Peyton Croghan finished 14th and Mary Claire Whitney helped the team win by finishing 23rd overall.
On the boys side they finished 2nd as a team. EJ Kelly finished 1st among all racers, Paul Kane 5th, Julian Vargas 8th, Erik Kane 9th, Mathieu Morin 24th and Matthew Kaczynski 25th.
The Sharks next PCAL race is on October 4th at Christmas Hill Park in Gilroy. Go Sharks!
